On a village this small it is also the kind of error nobody catches early, because there is no volume of prior permits to make the pattern obvious. We take the jurisdiction from the parcel record before quoting.
Broward means HVHZ, and that changes the product
This is the difference that matters most here. Broward County is entirely inside the High Velocity Hurricane Zone, the strictest wind-borne debris regime in the United States. Products need a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance, which means passing large-missile impact testing — a nine-pound 2x4 fired at the glass — followed by thousands of cycles of positive and negative pressure to prove the assembly still holds after being hit. A product that is compliant in Palm Beach County twenty minutes north is not automatically compliant here.
Broward runs a county-wide technical authority as well
Every municipal building department in Broward operates under the county Board of Rules and Appeals, which sets the technical interpretation applied across the county. That is a genuine local quirk and it is worth knowing on a village this small: the counter is local, the technical standard behind it is county-wide, and the inspection expectations are the ones that apply everywhere in Broward rather than something a small municipality sets on its own.

Lazy Lake sits inland in the middle of established Broward development, which is a genuinely sheltered exposure — surrounding structures on every side and no open fetch.
